Hello all, new to the forum.
i have a 2005 twin 700 carb, bought new, has only about 40miles on it. was wondering what kind of mpg 700's are getting with mixed driving. ive heard about 45-50 maybe.

also was wondering if a stage 1 jet kit was worth the trouble, only engine mod is a kn filter.

Hi, I have your same machine. I get around 45-55 miles per tank, just like what you were saying...This is an average speed of about 15 mph in high gear...and 5 min warm up in summer and 10-15 min in the winter...This all takes a part in your miles per tank.

 

thanks, i have heard that the efi get a little better. havent been on a really long trip and was planning to go to west va after thanksgiving, just trying to get an idea of how much extra gas to bring

 

I put the Dynojet jet kit in mine. Makes a huge difference in performance but you lose some in gas mileage.

did the kit help in overall performance or just throttle response or both?
im looking for a little better throttle response, top end isnt that important to me, not many places around here where i can ride 55-60mph.

I have a 04 700efi. and I get about 45 miles per tank if Im not pushing it to hard. Thats not too good. One would figure they would be able to get at least 15mpg. My brother has a 700 kaw. He can ride all day no problem.

 

I rode hatfield and mccoy trails in Pineville this past weekend. We rode a fast 50 miles and I only used 1/2 tank according to gauge on my 04 efi. We rode 30 miles on Sunday and I only used 1/3 tank according to gauge. I've rode as many as 80 miles on a tank before but it was a smooth continuous ride. My ride on Sunday I also had another person on board with me since we weren't on Hatfield and McCoy trails. I've also have an 800 intake on my efi. All bikes vary in mileage though. I carry a 2 gallon can on my carrier I made and usually the Honda's use it due to they have a smaller tank. About 14-16 mpg is what you average on normal riding. If I use low range a lot it drops majorly. If I'm not mistaken they claimed a 20% increase in mileage with efi when it came out.

It is tough to say this about a 700 but I found that the low end of H was a little boggy. Plus in the really cold weather, you had to run the thing at 1/2 choke. We have had low's in the 30's this week (which is very warm for MN). I can go out in the garage & the 700 will start right up without the choke.

If you going to change the jetting, install a clutch kit too. Together that woke my 700 right up!

 

Last time I checked my 02 700 carb it got 17 mpg. This was a mixed run.
