Default 08 Sportsman 800 HO EFI

I'm planning to pick up an '08 800 Sportsman in Mossy Oak camo with winch and front and rear brushguards this week. I'm trying to negotiate a price though. I've called a couple dealers around here (Parkersburg, WV) and I'm getting quotes ranging from $9150 to almost $10k out the door. When I called Abernathy's they gave me a quote of about $8200 OTD. Should my local dealer be able to come down closer to the $8200? Anyone have any idea of how to get my local dealer to come down?
I guess my question is, do all dealers pay the same price for the atv? Or does someone like Abernathy's have a lower cost because they sell more of them? Is there somewhere online that I can see dealer cost?

Thanks for your help!!!

my dealer here in Va has 08 800 camo's for about $7800, though that doesnt include winch, racks, or other accesories. if possible i would get a quote in writing sent to you then take it to your local dealer and ask him to if he will match it. if not then travel within a certain distance to the dealer with the better price, you can always go to your local dealer for service.

good luck.

well i live in Lynchburg but the dealer is on route 460 east about 30-45 mins outside of Roanoke in Bedford County.

the $7800 was a price from last week (i was thinking of upgrading from a 05 700 carb), so im not sure if he changes his prices week to week.

the shop is called Region 2000 polaris 434-525-8200.

hope this helps

kyle that price at abernathys cant include your wv tax and title.. yes all dealers have the same cost. remember tax and title is gonna be about 450 on 8200 .... i could explain why some dealers are low balling their prices but then id have to kill ya just kidding !!!!! then there gonna sell you an extended warranty and they make more on the warranty than they did on the bike!!!!!!

So if abernathys quoted me 8200 plus my tax and title of 500, I should be thinking in the ballpark of 8700. I might go to my local shop (ripley) and start at 8500 and see where I end up. About the warranty, Im planning on doing the ride free til 09 with the 24 month warranty paying off as much as possible, then financing the remainder locally instead of at 17.9 percent.

I just checked prices in SD-MN and OTD for an 800 camo would have been 7,600 with a 2 year warranty and no payments or intrest for jan 09. The winch was an extra 250 installed.

Also look at Performanc Powersports out of Chattanooga, TN. They are cheapest I have seen. On-line $ is under $7K for 08 800 camo.

Not sure where ya at in W, VA. But I had ridden two hours from MD to WVA to
Ridersville Cycle for their best prices. I got my 08 800 Stealth Twin HO for $7643.
As for me I didn't have to pay the taxes..

Just to correct a couple things in this post. No not all dealers have the same prices from Polaris. It depends on how many they sell, how many they buy and so on. I bought my sportsman 700 efi in 04 in Chattanooga and paid $1400 less for it than at the local dealers. No one here in WV or the Tristate would budge off their price. Between my buddyies and I we bought 4 new atvs that day and Chattanooga sold us all the atvs at $1400 less than here in WV area. That was their out the door price too. You don't have to pay taxes on one if you go there with the money and don't finance it. I paid for mine full and they gave me the bill of sale, same as title but I didn't register it with WV. You can sign it over to someone if you sale it just the same. I've bought every one of my atvs out of state just for the tax reason. I had to have some warranty work done on my atv when I got it and Ripley did my work and they asked where I got it from. I told them what I paid for it and he said what I paid was $400 cheaper than he could get them for. When you go to a place like Chattanooga and see 200-300 atvs sitting around you know why they can get them cheaper.
