The Hawkeye's have the battery in the middle of the front storage box, very easy access. What's the inside of your box look like on the 400???

You probably know this, but the 06 has the battery under the front cover. Easy access. I heard the 08's were hidden and a pain to remove. I don't use a battery tender, just an old fashion 2amp charger.

the battery on this bike is down in side the frame in front of the engine and is a bear to get to as you have to remove a special panel and unbolt brackets and no way to get to the cables. open the storage boc up and in the middle is the antifreeze bottle and rad. cap as well as the front brake fluid resior and theres a black cable that looks like it hooks to a battery tender. most likely a polaris one since theres a part number in my owners manual.
