What's coming next is mandatory registration even on private property justified by phony environmental concerns, and mandatory liability insurance.

This has been illegal in Michigan for several years. But it's normally not enforced unless the driver is riding carelessly.

When we went to Oklahoma on Nov 2, we just packed and planned like we always do.

Get there and they have new signs posted everywhere. No longer allowed to ride 2 up unless designed from the manufacturer.

Of course, the law went into effect on Nov 1.

Something good did come out of it. Hannah got to ride her first gas powered atv.

Had it governed down to just putt, and it was just a tad too big. But she handled it like a champ. Got a couple of pics of her in the gallery.

Also, anyone under 16 has to wear a helmet. That's a law I can live with.

This is a timely topic. We were just looking at the sticker on the 2-up X2. It has the traditional circle with the slash through it. But inside it has 3 people on the quad. I was saying to my son, "It just makes me want to ride 3 up". I guess it's just the rebellious side of things. I do get tired of the government regulations that are trying to keep you safe from yourself. Like requiring a rough surface on tubs and showers. (Safe, yes, but tough to clean) I don't mind laws that penalize someone for harming another person and/or their property. But, I really dislike them telling me how I have to keep safe. If I want to be stupid that should be my own idiotic choice, and one that I'll have to live with the consequences. I get the feeling they'd regulate when and where we can pass gas if they have nothing better to do. I don't know about Mass. laws. I don't ride here. In NH and VT where I ride I haven't seen anything about requiring 2-ups. I don't have trouble with people riding with what they have. We couldn't afford another 2-up at this point if we needed one. So, if we did; we'd have to stop riding in any states that have the requirement, we'd stop registering in those states, we wouldn't stay overnight in those states, we wouldn't buy our gas in those states, we wouldn't eat at the restaurants in those states, etc. They are slicing their own financial throats when they over-regulate to the point no one rides there anymore.
