Hey Im new on here and was wondering if $3000 is a good price for a 1997 sportsman 500. The guy put a new belt and brakes on it and it has 2500 miles on it . The tires are alright and it comes with a winch, polaris storage box and a cover for it. Been looking for a while and not to sure about the belt thing I have always liked shifting. If anyone could tell me the good or bad about these quads it would be appreciated. I will be using this mainly for icefishing on Lake Erie.

 

3k way to much for a 97...offer him 2K as far as the machine there good machines dont worry about belt drive either.

if everything works and works good and the machine is in good shape i wouldnt pay mor than 2800 for it. i bought a 96 i thought it was in good shape for 1900 once i got it home and really went thru it i found tons of stuff wrong with it and have put a ton of money into it....remember its 10 years old. who knows i might just be cheap!

 

Its Canadian funds . I ended up buying it for $3000 Ive been looking for some time and there was one for sale on ebay and it was nothing but a scam. The guy said no shipping at first and the quad was in Toronto so I said I could pick it up and then all of a sudden he wanted to ship. I just kept telling him to give me his phone number to talk to him , then all of a sudden the quad was in Alberta so I told him I had a friend moving back and that he could pick it up. The guy said he was living in the States and there was no way for him to get the money. So I know its a scam he kept having excuses for everything I said so now Im just going to keep him thinking Im interested. Just to tick him off !!!!!!!!! The quad I bought is in nice shape no broken plastic, the seats not torn I know that is just cosmetics but everything else seems good so far. I took it for a good ride today and tried everything several times like switch from low to high and from 2 wheel drive to 4 wheel drive. I powerwashed it and put it in the garage with the wood stove going to dry it out and tomorrow Im going to go over it.
