I haven't stayed there but I have driven in off the trails the last two years. The Quad country trails (Jackson, Eau Claire, Clark, and Trempealeau) provide a pretty good trail system. The two counties with the most trails are Jackson and Clark, but they have connection into Eau Claire where my wife grew up.
I ride there about two times a year (about $18.00 out of state registration) and its well worth the travel time and money (4 hours for me). Down south has alot of sandy trails and up nort you get into mud, clay, and rocks.
There are alot of places (bars/grills) to get off the trails for a bite to eat and gas. The Bunkhous is a nice place to get a drink and they have some excitement for visitors. Very frindly staff in the bar.
We usuallly hotel it in Black River Falls or Eau Claire, but this year we plan to camp somewhere outside of Fairchild.
