i have a 99 trailblazer 250 and have the following mods done already uni air filter, carb jetted, air box mod, clutch spring and a .40 weico piston and ALL NEW SEALS!!!.. so i have exuast left to do ..i know this my sound cheap but can i just drill some holes in the end of the muffler for more flow,i relay dont want to spend 250.00 for a new muffler ..so would this work or would i just be destroying a perfectly good muffler..thanks

It's not really the muffler (silencer) that gets you the power gains on a 2 stroke. It's the pipe. A good pipe will work fine with the stock muffler.
Just avoid DG pipes. They make a good 4 stroke pipe, but they aren't tuned to the clutch on the Polaris. Sometimes they can actually hurt the performance.
Honestly, with the mods, and money you have in it already, a good pipe would be a good investment.
You might check ebay. I got lucky and got an FMF pipe and silencer that was in excellent shape for 65 bucks.

I could be wrong, but the 2 stroke needs back pressure for it's power. Just letting more air out would do more harm than good.
Unlike the 4 stroke where getting more air in and out is better.
That's why you see the expansion chambers on the 2 stroke performance pipes as opposed the to the straight stock pipe.

imo just drilling holes would be wasting a good muffler. scoot is right he says the pipes play a pretty important job. just buy a good after market system and ill bet you gain alot w/ it.
ps i would call rick ritter as he has vast experince and could point in the right direction i bet.

Give Rick Ritter a call and tell him what you have in mods and can match you up with the pipe, silencer and clutching you need. You may not need his complete kit.
