DEALER FIXED 4X4 PROBLEMS
#1
A week ago I posted a 4x4 problem:
"Hi guys looking for help with diagnosing a 4x4 issue. My front right hub seems to only lock intermittently. I replaced the actuator plate in the hub and cleaned and refilled the oil. I also added dialectic grease to all the wire connections. It seems if I drive it a little then the hub will lock and unlock. Funny thing is it will not lock at all in reverse. I tried holding the override switch in, makes no difference forward or reverse. If I do NOT activate the overide switch sometimes I can still back up as fast as I want like its not working, yet sometimes it works as it should.
I have power (12v) to the hub at the connection located near the top of the radiator, so I am assuming there is power to the hub. I checked all the wiring and do not see any damaged wires.
Is it a possibility the 4x4 switch is bad? or is it the override switch?? Where do I look next. I really would like to avoid the cost to have it repaired at the dealership!!
Well I had to take it in to get it fixed. It was two broken wires inside the actuator in the hub. They replaced the electrical part of the magnet actuator or something like that. All I know is it is fixed, they did a great job, and only charged an hour labor for that and a couple other things. Not too often parts cost alot more than the labor. Podeins power equipment in Stewartville did the work and I am happy with a dealership service department for once!!
thanks for all the help and suggestions prior to taking the machine in!
