Sounds like a bad contacter to me. Mine did the same thing and a new contacter fixed it. Is it a Warn winch?? They had a recall on some of the contacters.

I had the exact same thing happen after I got my solenoid wet. Got a new one from the dealer for free and that fixed it.

Scrammy is right, the contactor for sure. Mine has been like this since new, my own fault for not taking it back in. It does this sporadically, I've been able to get through a full season of snowplowing, just have to press the button repeatedly until it catches.

Best to see if you can get a new one, or you can do like me and just put it with it until it fails completely.

It was the contact relay. I took it to the dealer yesterday and they replaced it for free - still under warranty. Got it back in time to plow the new 6 inches of snow that fell. Thanks for all the input.....

IF it's the "Polaris winch" not the one made by WARN for Polaris (there are 2 different 2500 lb winch's offered), it's pure junk.

I have been back 3X to my Dealer with problems first with it free-spooling out on it's own, then not raising, and now the f-in thing won't go down!!!

Look, the non-Warn winches offered by Polaris are pure JUNK.

My Dealer has agreed to replace my POS with the Warn3.0 XT. They are going to charge me only the difference in part price plus a nominal labor charge to R+R.

I don't think there is a fix for the non-Warn ones. In fact, someone wrote that they are built in China.

They are expecting mine to arrive early next week.

(FYI, I have owned at least 15 new ATV's and never had a prob with any of my Warn winches)

My best advice to you'all is to replace yours with a good brand-name winch!
