Default Few things noticed on used 700 I just purchased.

Hello folks. I just bought a 2002 700 sporstman Carb. It has 156 hours on it. runs good has a cycle country plow, ITP wheels and 27 by 11 by 12 itp 589 or is it 6 any way, oh yea the fronts are 27x9x12.

A little background for me. I work at a polaris dealer as a mechanic for a year ten years ago. I do understand how most of the things work well as for the factory stuff. Not to much about the aftermarket.

So to the questions. First of all the right front to the machine sits lower than the other even when I pull it up to level to make sure there is no undo sitting involed.

I am figuring that the springs are factory and that maybe the previos owner had the blade to right most of the time and that might cause it to become weak over time. Every thing else seems to ok ride quality seems ok except with a little tire rub when braking with the blade on and the huge lugs on the tire. Oh yea I did notice a dent in the plastic from the top of the shock tower. I forgot to look at the other side.

So what I am thinking is I should replace the front springs and while doing so I should put so heavy duty springs. use the plow and not to mention my husky frame(lol) at 300 lbs.

So are the any suggestions as to which and where to get.

Ok this post is long enough I will ask the other questions in another post.

Thanks for and all help.

rescue.tech... check the mounting points of the front shocks make sure they both look the same nothing bent or twisted. Then measure the length of the springs both loaded and then lift the front and check the length of the spring. I have seen the shock rod bend not allowing the shock to expand fully.

I put a set of Hilifter HD springs on the front and it made a load of difference.
The plow squated the front so much it would only lift about 3 inches.
Now it hardly sags at all. The steering is a little stiff but the ride is fine especially with some load on the front.
good luck.

I put the EPI's on the front of my machine and they work awesome......Polaris should definitely beef up those front springs....

I went to the Hi lifter web site, Called them to make sure of the part number then found it on ebay, I think I ended up paying about $80.00 for the pair with shipping.
The install wasn't too bad. I found some torn CV boots so it was a good time to change them too. that was the toughest part of the job.
You will find lots of past threads on changing the springs on this forum. I used a set of mechanical spring compressors, some guys say you won't need them, I did. My advice is to search on this site what it is you want to do then start taking stuff apart.
The springs up front are probably the best modification that i have done to my Sportsman.
I think there is a picture on my profile, they are yellow.
Holler if you need help, I or almost any one here will help.

I'll look back and see if I can find who I baught them from.

I put some polaris ranger springs on the front of my sportsman. I think they were about 80.00 for both springs. It helps with the front end sag alot with some brand of stiffer springs the ride quality is still good.
