Default Removing Decals

I'm probably going to end up with some used plastic down the line. Does anyone have any good trade secrets they will share on how to remove the decals without messing up the plastic?

warm them up with a hair dryer - pick at a corner with your finger nail until you can grab the corner with your finger and pull straight back REALLY SUPER SLOW. The glue will stay on the plastic - get that off with rubbing alcohol or that orange sticker remover. it make rip a few times - took me about a half hour to get the big one pealed. trick is to go really slow when pealing it back and keep it warm.

Hair dryer or heat gun works well, the heatgun works better but be careful not to melt the plastic...it will!! The pressure washer works quicker, cleaner and easier. Never used a "hot" pressure washer but my standard one will strip them in a heartbeat. Be careful with the pressure washer as well, get to close with a narrow nozzle you can tear into the plastic...or the seat...don't ask me how I know!!

If you have a pressure washer, it will take you almost as long to get it out and running as it will to get the stickers off. Just don't use a real narrow stream or get right up on the plastic like stated above.

I have a pressure washer , but we're still under an outside water useage ban here in North Ga. ; you can take the plasticts to just about any car wash and use the hand held pressure washer wand if it's adjustable it will remove decal's !

The first time i used my gas powered pressure washer , my cousin was washing my truck and didn't set the spray gun before rinshing off the soap ; and it peeled the decal's from my truck and made it look bad so i just let him go ahead and remove them all the way around the truck and it didn't need hot water to do it either !...........

I used a spray bottle with soap and water and a sharp razor blade to take me decals off, the first one i did in 30deg weather (not smart i know) it chipped the paint off my 08 in one spot. the other decals i did the same but used a heat gun and took more time to be careful it worked like a charm no scratches or dings. just kept it wet.

granted these were the factory warning decals which seem to be a lot harder to get off than aftermarket stickers.

good luck to you.

I used a hair dryer and WD40. I needed something to get hold of the corners and used a popsicle stick and put a couple of divots in the paint. I now need some touch up paint for the sunset red color. Don't get impatient enough heat or steam sounds good.
