I'm a pretty big fan of running what the manufacture recommends. If it told me to jump off a cliff I probably would [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img] But that is only my opinion. BUT if you run differant that what the manufaturer says and you have a problem I'll be the first to say "I told you so" LOL I know I'm not the only one around that has had problems with a dealer saying "It will work just fine" Just fine just cost my dealer a front diff replacement. Take it how you want.

On the 500 motor the filter that comes from the factory is bigger than the replacement you buy at polaris dealer not sure about the other motors being a different size.

Ya, that's kinda weird. Good to know I have the right filter.

 

Good advise SCRAMMYTODD.......

On our Onan genset in the motorhome, the original oil filter is larger than the replacement, also. Was confusing at first.

 

Read this , this is from Hight Lifters forum Common Polaris part substitutes

Thare so many oil filters other than Polaris that fit there hard to keep track of them all. It also goes for fans,ball joints,bearings bulps and so ...on.

Polaris does not make there own oil filters, there probably contracted out by Fram or someone else anyway.
