Default gear case

hi i was on the ice last year with my 400 sport 2/4 1998 and i whent of a jump and when i landed i snapped the chain and i put a hole 4 inches long by 1 inch wide in the gear case. I took it apart and noticed i had 2 bad bearings on the shaft that the sprocket goes on so i am ordering thos but i was woundering what else i have to order. do i need new seals? all of the gears look good the only thing is the chain feels loose is there a way to fix that? does it mater? its only used in reverse anyway right? i fixed the hole with a nice peice of alunimum and some j.b.weld on ithe nside and out it looks like it will work there isn't any preaure in the gear case that i know of. i am ordering parts as soon as i can so any info on what i need will be greatly appreciated.
