Thinking about getting a Scramble
Hey I have an 01 and an 03 500 4x4. 01-03 have the best suspension with the fox rear shock. Both have FMF mufflers and air box mods. The 03 is my wifes and feels a little faster. My 01 is fresher but has the older style ignition module. The 03 probably has different a timing curve. Both machines rock. The 4x4 is AWESOME when needed. However as mentioned it is not as good as an IRS in deep ruts. I can hold my own against 700 Raptors , it won't beat one unless the other guy can't drive. The 500 scrammys are quicker out the hole than people think. Mine can whoop Quadsport 400's all day long.Top speed on my GPS said 57.2 MPH. Great do all bike. Whats your uncles #. I might take it if you don't.

Wow. I figured that it would be a lil faster than that, but non the less this bike isn't getting out of my hands. I have an appointment to get a loan for it next week.

sweet! one thing I did fail to mention, the the scrammy has got to be the dirtiest quad you'll ever ride. no fender protection at all. When you are busting it up in four wheel drive, those front ties give you a nice full coating of mud. Not that I don't like mud, but you can not even go through a little tiny puddle without it ending up on you! I ended up buying the fender extensions for mine and it still allows you to tear up the mud and dirt without having to completely wear it! Just be prepared for an awesome, but messy ride!

That's true about being dirty, its a mudglinger. If you like your Trailblazer, you'll love the Scrambler.
I say don't buy it though. It's true as soon as soon as you ride it it will be a used 2001, and you never know what can happen and you may need to sell it. For another $1,000 or so you can have a brand new ride, that will have a much higher resale value. Plus, you may have an easier time getting financed for an '08 for a higher price, than an '01 for the lower price, because they are going to go by collateral value once you've bought it and ridden it.
Might want to think about buying an older one. I paid $1900 cash for my '99 500 AWD, and it runs neck and neck with my buddy's '07 Scrambler 500 AWD, they haven't changed much at all over the years.

Do not worry about breaking it in easy as far as I know it is a myth. Some may disagree but from what I have seen it holds no truth. Before mine was modded abit and was stock it would walk all over another one that was broke in easy. And now that both of them are modded it still holds true.
Use this info as you will it is your choice good luck with your purchase. Oh and buy the way the only thing that has gone wrong with my quad since I had bought it is chain, sprockets, brake pads and battery all wear and tear items.

scrambler 400 2 strokes are awsome. i owned a '99 250 trailblazer for years and it was a great bike, it took everything i thru at it. i sold it years ago . now i am getting back into riding and i got a 99 400 4*4 sram' for 1700 bucks back in sept.
it will be my new project. 2 stroke 400 is the way to go, mine is stock and i can do a wheely with no problem and its not even running 100% all the time i need to work on it some. look at it this way if you got a scrambler with 400 or 500 cc you could always supe it up too. get a good used one and save yerself 3000 bucks.
hope this helps

Can't give the scrambler enough praise. It rides like a caddy and goes through anything. I wanted more of a sport quad and I was spoiled with the scrambler, every thing I rode was so bouncy and abusive to the body. I finaly ended up getting the outlaw IRS for the comfortable ride. But I just couldn't trade in the scrammy. I will switch between then depending on the weather and how much mud there is. I also plan on letting my wife ride it so we can both go ridding together. I will have to change my clutch back to stock for her [img][/img]</end quote></div>
