Why I always carry a knife. Never know when you need it. Seat belts on mashed cars, making a pointy stick, self-defense, etc. He had an ax, though. I think the ax would have been more effective than the whistle and maybe could've got fresh meat. (Coyote has got to be better than rotten beaver) But, here we sit in our comfortable computer chairs armchair-quarterbacking a guy who was in the middle of it bigtime. Extra clothes in a bag on the front rack doesn't hurt in the cold weather either... Hope he doesn't have to lose a foot.
