Default seperated lower balljoint SP500

Run into a slight problem, the lower balljoint seperated,I knocked the threaded portion from the control arm. Here is my idea and open for suggestions.I plan on taking the strut, brakes ect off and welding the threaded part "ball end" back into the balljoint cup so I can use a big socket and washers to pull it,I can weld pretty good but there is not much room to work with.I plan on trying it tomorrow

can you clarify some--- is it the ball joint that popped out (ie worn out) or did the ball joint itself come out of the aluminum housing?

if you are trying to remove the broken end of the ball joint-- heat the aluminum housing with a propane torch going round & round (you can do this with it on the machine). After ~5-10 min of doing this, use a pair of pliers and pull the remainder of the ball joint out of the aluminum--- mine fell out when I heated the aluminum. REMEMBER to take off the retainer plate on the bottom of the strut that uses 2 allen bolts.

does this help?

Hi,yes the balljoint is still in the aluminum housing,I was riding and the tire fell into the fender.I got the plate off the bottom that's held in with 2 star screws. I have a small propane bottle type deal I could use.How about reinstalling the new one,I heard freezing it would help?

yup you can freeze it and heat the aluminum some in the same manner. I was able to pull my ball joint out and drop the new joint in back to back because i had the strut in a vise. If the strut cools some, you can re-heat it, or take a piece of wood & hammer and tap on each side of the ball joint until it seats completely.
