i write down the number and actually go to the main police station. the last time i had the top cop help me (the place is very dead on the weekend apparantly)he ran the number checking for report of stolen but it just a statewide search not national. they have all been clear for me so far! thank god! you can get a afadavid of restration a your local county recorder office to make it look official b4 going to the police too then you have papork proving your results when your done too
but if its actually your friends let him do it, or tell the cops you wanna make sure its clean b4 you buy it from him

Whenever a vehicle is bought in Ontario it requires a Used Vehicle Package. It has a list of previos owners, current owner and if there are any leins on the vehicle. Unfortutunatly it won't tell you if it's reported stolen, but it can tell you a lot about the vehicles history.

you couls also check w/ polaris as any new bike sold has the vin# recorded to the prson who bought the bike and if you know the histroy of the bike then it wouldnt be to hard to track it. i also beleave if any work has been done to it by a delaer they tract the vin #. just a thought.
