Took the rear fender off of the bike and cleaned it. Plugged in the soldering iron "welder" and let it heat up to temp. Taped one side as the directions stated and melted a "V" in the other side as stated. The "V" goes down the center of the crack. Fed the "plastic welding rod" and started welding. It is very smokey. Side 1 done. Looks like crap but it stayed together. Peeled of tape and did the same on side 2. They give you a thing of SS mesh to put over the inside weld for added strength. I did this on both sides since you sill not see it. Had to use a thin screwdriver to push the mesh down into the plastic when it starts to melt. Looks like it is going to hold up just fine. The color is far from the green rod I used. I am letting it cool over night and we will see the durability tomorrow.

Overall it was simple to use, by the time I was putting the mesh in, I had the hang of it. I used this to repair a small 2 inch crack under the seat. One of the support tabs broke and was letting the left front part of the rear fender sag a little. They are saying you can weld a broken in 2 fender back together. We will see.

The one from Harbor frieght requires an air compressor. The one I got is airless. Not sure what the difference is or which is better.. I will find out tonight how strong the "weld" is. And yes, it still looks as crappy as it probably did in the 80'... LOL

Well the welder did good... The weld is strong and there is no flex in that area. I recommend it..
