Polaris ATVs ran fine without these ECM things, can,t Polaris just go back to not having them? What advatages do these things have anyways over the ATV without them?

what is an ecm? is there on on a polaris scambler 2001 or polaris sport 400l 1998?</end quote></div>
Electronic Control Modules , I do not think they were introduced until second half of 2004 so your ok.
The also make the ATV not run unless it has a healthy battery so the pull start as a back up is almost pointless now.

This is the old service bulletin, not the latest.
Downloading the new one, be back shortly
There is no testing involved at all on the new bulletin, just replacement(matter of fact I had to send the tester back to Polaris that they issued years ago) Even if your ecm was tested and passed, they are still probably going to replace it. If you have a model in the vin range and it is the potted ecm and not the unpotted die cast ecm, it will get replaced. Basically, if your machine has 3 different connectors on the ecm, it's gonna get replaced. The newest ones have one large connector, a short harness, and then the three connectors. They are not getting replaced.
