yea it goes to the coil not on were the nut is but on the flat male spade thing stiching out of the coil. or thats what it sounds like to me

i'm looking at the diagram right now

green goes to the stator
there should be three wires together
blk/red,a red and green going to the cdi charge coils in the stator behind the pullstart

my book also has 2 wiring diagrams for the 2 scrammy 500 one the call a early model and the other a late model but i dont know the date they switched but the early diagram shows the green wire the late only shows 2 wires going to the chare coils a blk/red and a red

i bet you got the wrong cdi and need the one for the late model or a 2001

 

looks like the early/late goes by serial number not date

up to ss00-4730 earley
ss00-4730 and up is late model
