As long as the tracks are properly tensioned, they ar e just about foolproof. Some guys have broken the anti rotation kits, but that is from abuse such as going into a deep ditch to fast. When I'm out "Trackin" my speed seldom exceeds 30 mph because of looking at the scenery. The Hawkeye's top speed was 52mph but with tracks, had to work to hit 29 mph. But it would climb like a homesick angel. The 400HO is like an angel on steroids.

I bought a 08 boardwalk blue painted SP500. $6200 cash out the door. $13 license fee. You really have to check around. I found a variablity of nearly $1000 for the same bike at other dealers.

So I went to the dealer yesterday to pick up my new 500 and when I got there they had just received a stealth 800 which was parked next to the 500. Now here I am home today with a NO atv and waiting for a snow storm to hit tomorrow thinking which one would be a better and more reliable quad. The Sportsman 800 is only $900 more. Any thoughts and or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!

FYI - you can buy a new '07 Suzuki King 700 in Madison, WI for $6700 out the door, that included WI sales tax. My brother picked his up last weekend. They had 2 left. They have more power then Sportsman 500 and smaller price tag then the Sportsman 800

Depends what you're doing with it. For general work/mild recreation I find the 500 has more steady power for towing. The 500 will run 55mph down the road and pull a half ton pick up. If it is more for play then get the 800, especially for $900. The 800 has one more gearcase/fifferential over the 500. Other than that not much different.

+1 TO what looking glass said...i've not been out done or out run[on the trail]riding a 500 against a 800..plus they use WAY more gas and are ALOT hader to pickup when they are on their side...look at the resale part of it also...i think the 500 would be easyier to sell...
