Default How many of you plow?

Alright so I went from a trailblazer 250 to a Raptor 350, because I wanted clutch. Its a great quad don't get me wrong, but its still not great. I am really missing the ease of the automatic transmission and everything. I am 14 and need to start saving for a car, and currently there are no jobs available. I figured if I got a decent running scrambler 400, I could have the best of both worlds, sport and utility. How man of you guys actually plow with them? I mean I could prob make an easy 200$ or so when we get a decent amount of snow, so basically over the course of two or so winters the quad would pay for itself. Now what I am saying is it a good plow quad? I don't want to be getting stuck or anything. I was thinking throw some maxxis tires on the thing and a electric plow, and go to town, but I want to be reliable and not get stuck and all that.

I would like to know too if there are some plowers out there. What I'm wondering is, scramblers only have a high gear, can they do things like push snow and pull for several hours at a time without stressing it too much.

I can speak for the fact that they don't get stuck much.

I wouldn't plow with my Scrammy, I use low range all the time on the Sportsman.

Is it really that bad? There are really no other options for having sport and 4x4, thats the problem.

Yes but they are new and the only old models are 07s! That would be like 6k or so for a quad...

Do you even ride your scrambler in the snow?

How deep of snow are you talking about? Anything 3" or less, I wouldn't hesitate to plow with my scrammy. Over 4 inches and you start to run into the issue of the belt slipping a stuff like that. I did however run my scrammy through the 10" of snow that we got not too long ago and didn't have any trouble with it. I wasn't plowing, but the front end ended up pushing snow anyways.

Thats the thing 4 inches is basically nothing. Here we just got like 7 inches or more and I wish I had something to plow. My friend with a Bruin 350 made 500$ doing driveways today. I would love making that in one day.

Is there something I can do to make the scrammy more plow friendly? Like a lower sprocket for more low end torque? Higher grade belt?

i plow with my scrammy all the time. low range is not necessary. we just got a a good 10" of heavy wet snow and i had no problems at all. i have the 50" cycle country blade and it works great.
