Sounds like many people buy cheap winches and then expect them to go. Is there a truly bullet proof winch that is going to take some normal use? I want something with a good warranty that I am never going to have to use. Any suggestions?

I have bought 4 warn winches over the years...all garbage and broke in less than a year. Have a factory polaris winch now that just failed. Have friends with superwinch that failed. I think all winches are prone to frequent failure. WTF i dont know what to do because they arent cheap but dont seem to last. Im just thankful that my Polaris winch is under warranty. Maybe try a Mile Marker winch...I havent hade one personally but the military uses them so they might be good????

I had a superwinch on my old recon and it worked great for 4 years until I sold it
know I have a gorilla XTR winch with sythetic rope on my sportsman and it has been used for several real bad stucks, the gorilla also has a limited lifetime warranty

I have seen Warn winches do amazing things. Have had them on all my atv's.

There is no such thing as a bulletproof winch in my opinion....All brands have had their share of problems....Some more than others....I've been lucky enough to have no problems with my Warn...

they are all mostly the same just teh price plus the warentee plus the sticker slapped on it some people like to pay 3 times teh price for a stick with a brand on it being $356 when they could bey something like a gorrilla on ebay with a synethetic rope waterproof motor and solonoids and 2 year warenty for under $100 if you are that worried spend $200 and buy yourself a spare you would have one for the front and one for the back of your atv and still have $150 dollars left over. its a no brainer for me. i love my gorrilla 2500 waterproof series i wish i got the synthetic rope i hate teh frais in eh steel cable and the flattend parts.

I have an Xtreme Winch and I really like it. About $130 delivered with mounting bracket.

RanMan68 really likes his too!

NOT

I MIGHT use mine once or twice over the next couple of years. I'm simply not spending $400 - $500 on a Warn. I had a Warn on my 1999 Explorer 300. NEEDED it once in four years to pull someone else out of a jam.

Bottom line is - if you depend on your winch to save your ***, you might want to spend the extra. If not CHEAP DON"T HURT!
