Tim

Thanks for bring this to our attention. That Scrambler looks tough. I really like that black with the graphics look. Do you think the Magnum front differential is the wave of the future for Polaris 4wd? One more thing, that trail boss looked like someone puked on it. Darn that is ugly (just my opinion) .

My GUESS at this logic is that with a differential it is a lot easier to turn under power in 4 wheel drive.

i think the viscolock stuff is because if you are riding in steep mountain trails and rocks you dont want to have to have the wheels spin before the front ones kick in, i would like to have a choice of 2wd, ondemand 4wd , and full 4wd, im sure they could do that

Swen is partialy correct. When awd is needed on hard terrain, not having the rear wheels break traction before the froont engages is a good thing.
But the main reason for the different front end is so you can have all four wheels providing engine braking. This provides much better control then only rear wheel braking. On the Polaris On-Demand system, you only have the rear tires providing the engine braking.
I don't think this will be the wave of the future for polaris. At least I hope not. In the end all it is, is a limited slip like those found on other machines such as the Traxter. It is a good system, but I like the On-Demand better.

will this system still alow u to go from 2wd and 4wd? and how much more will it cost?? if u can still switch between 2wd and 4wd then i hope they put it on all the quads. the sp700 included.

i guess this system gets rid of the electic hubs on the regular mag.

later

yeah lurch, probably a good benefit in the mountains would be the full engine breaking, i think they should have it on one or two models to have a choice, hopefully the RMK and Scrambler X will be available to more people than just a lucky few people

Something tells me this new differential is the future for all Polaris 4X4's. They wouldn't go to the trouble of manufacturing it for only one model. It will be more than funny to see you Polaris boys jacking up your quads, with one wheel on the ground, to see if "your" limited slip works.LOL

I think the new diff. will stay with the Magnum. Seems like Polaris is just giving people an atv with different features that fit their needs. My guess is that the HO took a lot of sales from the Magnum and now they want to go a different direction and make it into more of a "special perpouse atv?", like a diesel, for people who need to climb mountains or similar activities. I think this would also explain the lowering of the gears too. Just my guess?
