i have a 03 polaris magnum, and i just did a carb rebuild and after the rebuild the motor started and idled rough and smoked alot. and now doesnt start. also i smell oil in the gas. im thinkin i didnt adjust the air/feul screw right, but i was goin by the diretions of the manual on how to adjust the screw.
please help,

 

if you have gas in your oil chances are the float is sticking open for some reason or is not adjusted correctly.

 

but how do i adjust the screw its hard to get my hand in there

 

Did you replace the needle and seat? that will let gas into oil. The screw is hard to get to on the bike ,set it at 2 to 2.5 turns out while you have the carb off changing the needle and seat. Change gthe oil and filter also.

 

Dont think he smells "gas in the oil" think he is saying "i smell oil in the gas".

 

unless he premixed i dont know why there would oil in the gas.

 

sorry i meant to say i smell gas in the oil, when adjusting the screw do i turn it clockwise 2 turns? i do remember i did that but it would backfire but ill try it again.

 

about the needle and seat, is that located in the float bowl on the carb right? but what is the seat?

The "seat" is where the needle goes in...
