new clutch needed
#1
I replaced my clutch cover on my 1999 sportsman 500 tonight and found that my primary clutch is in rough shape. I also noticed the date engraved on my primary and secondary were way off from 1999! the date on the primary in 1995 and the secondary is 1994. this does not make much sense to me at all. The ebs is working so I doubt that the clutches could be from 1995 unless they made them back then. Anyway I'm looking for an after market replacement clutch with ebs but i can't find one with ebs. Do any of you guys know where I could get one, and any in site on the date coding would be helpful too. I was thinking about the new comet clutch but they do not list one for my four wheeler but do say on there site you can replace an ebs with there clutch but won't have ebs.

I did check ebay and found none for that exact year. It has grooves in the sheaves the buttons are all melted also the thing was tortured before I got it. The clutch cover had a hole melted through it. It has 26" tires itp 589 10" wide on the front I think the previous owner ran mud holes with it in high instead of low that is the only reason I can find for a clutch getting that hot. It still works fine runs up to 55 mph on the road shifts fine and all but I Know it will probably fail when I'm on the trails miles from home. I was wondering if I could use a none ebs on it. You are right I do love the ebs and would hate to loose it. I did see a clutch brand new on ebay for 2000 and up that has ebs but I never heard of the brand before so I kind of leary about buying it.

pretty much any clucth w/ or with out ebs would work. you have to chage the springs and weights but would be the same. i would stick polaris but thats just me.
