Yep, the 500 definitely has the gas mileage advantage.

I recently purchased a 2008 sp700x2 for my wife. She really likes it. She used to have a 2005 Suzuki Vinson 500....she likes this much better. I suspect you like the sand and that would influence me to go with the larger machine as you know you can never have too much power in the sand. My wifes 500 was ok in the sand, but I suspect the 700 will be much more fun when I get done with it.

There is no screw on the throttle assembly of the 700 to govern the throttle, but maybe you could find something so that when the kids ride it they won't have all that power at there thumb? Just a thought....

Of course, I'm sure the kids wouldn't mind having their own quad! LOL!

I'd go with the 700 or 800. both have more than enough power for you and a passenger. I'm right the opposite. I just got rid of my '03 sportsman 700 and got a yamaha warrior. I've never had a sport quad and it is taking some getting use to. while one of the heavier sport quads, it still a lot lighter than the sportsman, lol.

lol yeah the sportsmans are heavy. one of the reasons I sold it. I'm not that big of a guy and I would try to ride the sp like a sport anyway, lol. the warrior is a totally different beast that's for sure. hopefully I will be able to go out on the trails with it soon and then I can make up my mind if I like it or not
