3 light mod
#11
Everyone I know who does it seems to have no troubles, I have it in a way, kinda of. I put the switch just right between high and low beam and it can stay there by itself causing all three lights to stay one.

from another post- COVERSION TO 3 LIGHT FOR 2003 AND NEWER
LOCATE THE "YELLOW" HIGH BEAM POWER WIRE THAT GOES UPTHE HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHT POD,
PULL IT AWAY FROM THE REST OF THE WIRES TO GET AS MUCH SLACK AS POSSIBLE (YOU MAY HAVE TO REMOVE SOME OF THE WIRE LOOM). ATTACH THE "YELLOW" WIRE FROM THE CONVERSION KIT TO THIS WIRE BY WAY OF THE WIRE TAP PROVIDED.
NEXT, ATTACH THE"GREEN" WIRE FROM THE CONVERSION KIT TO THE "GREEN" LOW BEAM POWER WIRE THAT COMES FROM THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH.
ALSO,BECAUSE YOU WILL BE ADDING EXTRA LOAD TO THE SYSTEM, YOU SHOULD NOT ALLOW YOUR ATV TO IDLE FOR LONG PERIODS WITH THE HIGH BEAMS ON AS THIS WILL STRESS THE BATTERY AND THE CHARGING SYSTEM.

I used a diode for a while but it burnt out in less than a year, now I have a relay and it works great. I did a buddys a week after mine with a relay and he hasn't had a problem in over a year

I know my friend cant do it also, but my switch just has that sticky place between the high/ low that hold on for some reason. Could be wear working in my favor.

You would not be using all 3 lights long enough to kill the battery, the low beam 2 light set up still works. You would have to be on one long midnight ride for the 3 lights to kill the battery because the charging system cant keep up.
Even if you parked the ATV with the motor and charging system off and left the 3 lights on it would take a long time for the battery to die.

Done. I mounted a relay to the firewall and new headlights down low. The factory lights where yellowed, the bulbs cost $24 each. I bought "driving lights" at the auto parts store and they are 55w. $20.00 for the set. The realy was cheap and the lights came with all he wire I needed to to do the mod.
I have done this same thing to my two Chevy trucks so far, also. I love it.
