Default ETC Adjustment?

Wife's Magnum idles fine until you let your thumb off the throttle. Is there an adjustment in the ETC to prevent this, or does the whole thing need to be replaced?

There is about an 1/8th between shutdown (no thumb) to where RPMs just start to increase, i.e. slack.

Is the adjustment inside the ETC? If so, does the cover just pop off? I really didn't spend much time looking at it last night...

not sure about yours but my sportsman has an adjustment on the cable. There is a rubber boot just slide it up and youll see the adjuster. Loosen the lock nut and adjust it so there is about 1/8" of freeplay at the thumb throttle. You'll probably find that the locknut loosened up from vibration and backed out a little. I had to adjust mine just the other day.

Cool, I'll look at that tonight, but wouldn't that just effect the freeplay in the cable vs. the electronic shutdown of the ignition?

there is such a thing as too much play and not enough that will make etc kick on and shut down the bike. like rowe said you adjust it on the cable.
