Default 2004 sportsman 700

when the atv is running i can not change gears, and it goes by itself. when the atv is off i can change gears. can anyone tell where i can start wtih this problem.

sounds like maybe your idle is set too high.

I HAVE CHECKED THAT I THINK IT MAY BE THE PRIMARY CLUTCH

your ebs washers are gone, defintiely primary clutch, need to take the clutch to the shop and have them go through it

will a new belt tempory fix the problem. i am going on a ride next weekend.

no, it should only take an hour or so to rebuild the clutch, if you take it off and take it to them. if you don't fix it pretty quick, you'll wear a groove around the shaft on the inner sheave and then you'll be buying a new clutch.

looks like clutch time! Had the same problem....It could be the bearing under the pulley. Take clutch off, remove primary clutch, seperate pulleys,clean and grease the bearing under the sleeve that the belt rides on. Mine was rusted and broke apart and ball bearings on floor after observing bad part....$$$>300.00 for entire clutch[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img]
