Primary clutch and elevation

ok i am about to get a new clutch i am having power issues low and top end... anyway i am in new york when i was ordering i saw that they asked what elevation i was, i was wondering if anyone knows why they need to know, whats the difference between a high elevation clutch and a low... also anyone know what elevation i will need..
