Default Electrical pronblems - Need HELP!!

I still have my '03 Sportsman 500 HO. Maybe its feeling neglected now that we have the '08 Touring??

Started it up to move it, it stalled out (cold hearted SOBs) and when I tried to restart, I had nothing, no crank, no lights, no consol. Well, I have had it long enough to remember to check the emergency shut off switch. That wasn't it.

Further investigation shows...Battery voltage (newish battery) 12.18vdc measured on one side of the started solenoid. Tested the other side while having the key turned and -- Nothing, so I jumped across the two positive bolts on the starter solenoid, and it started right up. Bad Starter solenoid???

Then while it was running, noticed that consol gaguges were going on & off, that the head lights were flickering, and the battery indicator was flashing.

I tested the voltage @ the starter solenoid while running and still only 12.19vdc.

Alternator??? or just another indicator of starter solenoid being bad??

Where do I go from here?? What starter sylonoid do I get, and is it a "Polaris" part or can it be found at Auto Zone type parts stores??

what did you find out on this issue? I have the same problem, the solenoid does click when it kicks on and off also. I have constant power on the right side. I just loosned evetything up, sprayed contact cleaner and tightened everything back down. After about a minute run time, I had the same issue.

I assume its the solenoid, but I wanted to find out if you replaced yours and if this fixed the issue?

Thanks in advance,

Mark

Haven't gotten over to my buddie's house where it is kept. Only have room for one ATV in the garage and the "T" stays here. I picked up a new solenoid just in case I need it.
