Thanks for the Quick Reply, and only loseing 4-mph i think that is a prerry good (give and take) for the Bigger Tires. A friend of mind said that those Mudlite Tires would really make a big drifference (for the better that is). And i will keep you posted on the mods i do with the Dynojet kit, it might be a month or two before i can aford to do the mod but i will keep you posted. Thanks again for the Feed Back!!!!!

Make sure your Dad knows that the new Sportsman 300 is a remake ot the Hawkeye with some frame mods. Most of the liquid cooled models are pretty trouble free, but, more moving parts more potential for problems.



I don't want to be negative, but most of us did exactly what you are doing when we were your age. Do your experimenting on the base model till you've squeezed every bit of Hp out of it and then you've learned something. If you just spend the $$ and get a bigger model, all you've learned is that "if you throw money at it you can go fast."



Make your improvements or mistakes on the Hawkeye. Its pretty forgiving. By the way, you ask some pretty intelligent questions for a young guy.

thanks, im into cars and all that so i know all about carburetion and alot of that stuff that adds to prior knowledge. and i dont have money to throw at it, so thats why im doing simple mods and stuff like that. i have already done some work to it and am gonna try doing most of the maintenance to save some money, still taking it in for the timed checkups though. but this is my first ATV and i have only had it for about 4 months, so still got lots to learn. just kinda my hobby[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

and yes mongrol i know they are basically the hawkeye with a rename and a couple small tweaks.

i am also looking into getting some mudlites maybe. do they fit the stock rims? wat about the speedometer, can you calibrate it to compensate for the larger diameter?

 

Mudlites fit stock rims. You can not calibrate the speedometer. You can do the math and figure exactly how much off the speedometer is reading off based on the size tire you put on it.

well, wats the original hawkeye tire diameter?

 

original diameter is 22in, mudlite 25in, 30mph original is 34.1 mudlite.
