Default 5000 mile inspection

I have a 98 Sportsman 500 4x4. I purchased it last year and it showed about 4700 miles on it. The speedometer didn't work and they were not sure for how long. I have replaced all wheele bearings, U-joint bearings, tie rod ends, control arm bushings, spark plug and such. The machine runs great but I have a roaring noise when the engine is running. I inspected my timing chain tensioner and found it stuck. I got it to loosing but putting it back together it went to the last click. This did help the noise a lot. So I have ordered a new chain, spockets and gaskets. My question is; is there any thing else I should check before warm weather gets here to try and insure a dependable season. I have a service manual and have check most of what it says.
Thanks for any help.
Oh one more thing, is there a transmission fluid I can use besides Polaris PPS?
