Default Tire sizes???

My bad. I have a 07 800 Sportsman. All stock. Have Polaris tires w/26x8r12 on front and 26X11r 12 on rear. But want something bigger. Not nessesarly taller but wider. Like the look of the rims so want to keep them. Sorry about no putting the needed info in the first post. (new to this for now)...but look out...hahaha

Default Tire sizes???

If you want to keep the stock rims, which are nice, you can't go wider up front without wheel spacers ($150).....not even an inch! It will rub the tie rod boot off. Some people have lowered it to accomodate 9" wide tires up front. I am still leary of changing the angles, but I'm not a mechanic, so I don't know if it really affects anything. So far I haven't heard of any problems from doing this. The rears should be able to go 14" wide without spacers. However, if you space the front and not the rear, it will look funny since the front will be wider than the rear. Just personal opinion. Just remember, the wider you go up front, the harder it will be to steer! Also, if you go taller than 26", you should clutch it. I did the same thing (see my profile) and it was barely noticeable, but worth $100. If you go taller than 26", you will need a full kit (about $300 with labor). Something to consider. What the tire really boils down to...in my opinion....and I'm an expert in my opinion! LOL!......is the tread depth. Over an inch tread depth is a must if you like the mud, snow or sand!
