Default clutch buttons

my 97 xplorer was bogging down at 35 like descibed in alot of the other threads. i took apart the secondary clutch and found the buttons only slightly worn. alot of dust though. how worn do the buttons have to be to afect preformance? will dust hinder performance? joe

Default clutch buttons

most of the time the butons would be worn excessly before they effect it. if the clutch is extremly dirty it could need a good cleaning as the the dirt/dust could make the parts hang up and not perform correctly. imo.
