Seriously Cannot find level check/ fill hole on tranny
Hello-
I just got this bike two weeks ago. I vowed to service it to th hilt before my first ride.
I found where to drain and fill the front diff.
I am running it on pre- mix with BE-NOL. I mistakenly thought the accent I was listening with at the point of sale said BEAN OIL.
I recovered the seat, ordered new front tires and bought trans fluid, clutch hub fluid, and front diff fluid at the dealer. I found out why there where no low beams.
I greased about 75 grease fittings, lubed the chain, checked the air box and filter, found a couple smaller, less urgent items.
I have had the thing 1/2 apart and CANNOT FIND A LEVEL CHECK OR FILL HOLE for the transmission anywhere. ANYWHERE!!!!
I am a gearhead, experienced wrencher, and good at web searches. NOTHING.
If you don't believe me, look at the bike I restored last winter http://www.enotools.com/PROJECT84XR.html
There is a smooth spot above the recoil that looks like it should have been something. There is a bolt towards the center and to the right of that.
I even found a drain plug in the underside of the transmission.
BUT NO FILL HOLE>
Can someone please email me a picture or post one of where this is?
And where the heck do you drain and replace the clutch fluid in the front hubs?

400 Xplorer Tranny
Under "transmission" it say part #62 <div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>PLUG,OIL FILL</end quote></div>
Maybe like on the gear oil hole of a outbourd motor, the drain hole is also the fill hole?
The hubs have a small Allen screw you take out to drain at 6 0clock than you fill and let excess fluid drain all out at 4 0clock position and put screws back in.
<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>I greased about 75 grease fittings</end quote></div>
LMAO ,I feel you pain.
I have the Independent rear suspension so I have 175 grease fittings.

The transmission fill hole/dipstick is right next to the recoil, just to the left of it. Pretty hard to miss?? Or, are you talking about the counter balance dipstick/fill hole? That's under the seat, pull the seat, it's just to the right of the carb. The counter balance is the only dipstick I can think of that's "hard" to find.
To change the hub fluid, there's a allen head set screw right on the hub itself. Fill it at "4 O'clock". Doesn't take much fluid.
If you need to view the owners manual, go to the polaris website.
