More likely than not, your throttle adjuster is loose and needs to be re-adjusted. You have an efi, you do not have a carb. There is a cable that is attached to the thumb throttle. follow that cable a few inches towards the headlight pod. Now pull back the rubber sheath that is over the little bulges in the cable. Here you will find the cable adjuster.

What jbbooks says. I don't know why the dealers don't show this to new buyers, every new Polaris will have to adjust this cable within a few hundred miles. I did on both my 2007's while out on a trail. The owners manual will cover this, it's real easy, if you have ever had to adjust the brake cable on a bicycle it's the same type system where the wire gives over time and you have to make it longer.

X2 (pardon the pun!) I've got the '06 model and I had the same thing happen right about the 300 mile mark with my X2. Adjusted the throttle cable and haven't had a hitch since.
