wires from overide

hey i bought a 95 xplorer 400 and every thing seems to work but the overide switch got to looking a found the purple wire has been cut but i cant find where it goes to does anybody have any idea that may help could be ground or hot

The purple wire is the wire that is used to indicate the Reverse position from the gear selector switch. When in Reverse, this wire has power, goes to the Override button - and if Override is not pressed, feeds into the Green wire to the RPM Limiter (Reverse Limiter)....
If the Override is pressed, it releases the Green wire contact to the RPM Limiter and makes connection to the Gray/White wire which feeds your power to the AWD system while in Reverse.
If the Override is pressed, it releases the Green wire contact to the RPM Limiter and makes connection to the Gray/White wire which feeds your power to the AWD system while in Reverse.
