I don't think it's bad luck as mutch as it is a single cylinder single carb vs. a twin cylinder single carb. I'm sure the alt plays a major roll in this as well!

to this point, my like of the mid-size 300/400 isn't outweighed by any desire to have features like ADC, ECM, Diagnostic readouts, or for that matter, EFI , and the complexity and somewhat inherent problems that come with them...
But then again, thats just me, I like it simple!
It's kind of like a toaster with digital control, LEDs, electronic timers, clocks, and bagel slots...I just want TOAST!

Weight is a big one, My Hawkeye rarely gets stuck , but someone Posted something about feeling child like, we all turn into children when we are having fun and I have fun on that little hawkeye I like going where the big boys go, I was measuring the hawkeye the other night and found out it has 12 inches of clearance with those good year tires on it, Im happy with it just need bigger.

My EFI gets about the same number of miles on a tank of gas as my old H.O. did with a one-gallon bigger tank. So I save $3.50 every time I burn one tankful of gas. If you use one gallon per week you save $900 in 5 years. Even if you don't ride that much the EFI is better in so many other ways.
So what if it's only a little more power. If you put a quad on a dyno and test it, you'll find out that's all the difference a lot of the aftermarket pipes actually make in the real world. You get the pipe performance without buying a pipe so you save money there too. When I had a carb 500 I had to let it warm up every time I rode, especially in the winter, but now I just turn the key and go. It makes abig difference when you plow. I burned up a lot of gas waiting for it to warm up enough to turn the choke off and not have it stall.
I wanted to go to the annual ATV jamboree in Utah several years ago but didn't want to get the quad re-jetted before I go and changed back again when I get home. I'm not a mechanic and would have had to pay the dealer to do it. I didn't want to spend that much money on top of everything else, and decided not to go. Now if I want to I can ride at any elevation, at any temperature and not change anything.
No more carb adjustments or rebuilds ever. That's the way I like it. It's a good idea on quads for all the same reasons as on cars.

I agree Jumbo, i like that fuel Injection as it runs perfect for me, I bought the 5 year warranty with it and if it ever breaks then its the dealers problem to fix it.

Hmmmm...interesting thought, you spent extra money for the extra warrentee to cover something you paid extra for...I know it probably makes sence, and you just didn't buy it for the EFI, but it just sounds funny the way you put it!
