thanks 800 Mossy Oak, yes I would like that phone number.

I guess as long as you can get the same warrant for the same/close price after, maybe the best thing to do is see if I have any problems. if i get a lemon, then hopefully any problems will be surfaced in the 1st 6 months.

thanks!

Default buy extended warranty

I was a test rider for HD. One of the major things that HD wanted to know is exactly what broke, when. That way they knew how much to offer extended warranties for and for what mileage. Believe me, they know about when things are going to break and they set the price high enough to cover that stuff or set the mileage on the warranty to go out before it normally fails. Since working there I have never bought an extended warranty. On the other hand if you plan on racing around and really working the snot out of this machine where it's going to take more abuse than the average quad then go for it, 5 yrs is a long time of beating up on an ATV.

I had an extended warranty and everything was okay. Then I bought a quad without it and things started going wrong. If you need it you don't have it, but if you have it you don't need it. Buy it so nothing breaks. And get the EFI over the H.O. No choke, no rejetting for higher elevation, easier starts no matter how cold it is, no carb adjustments or rebuilds. I really like mine.

Default buy extended warranty

Thanks everyone!!!

I ended up with the 500HO...mainly cuz they didnt have green in the efi, only camo and couldnt get a deal. I paid $5k even for the atv plus $725 for a 60mo $0deductible warranty.

Was suppose to also get a free winch, but the dealer reSpam wordSpam word Spam wordSpam word Spam wordSpam word Spam wordSpam word ed on that part but they said they gave me the polaristar protection plus at $25 over cost. Hard to say if that is right, but retail on it was $1050, so I nearly beat em out of the cost of the winch any way.

I struggled w/ the decision, always owned Hondas before....I think I will chronicle the next 6 to 12 months on this ATV so everyone can follow and if people are faceing the same decision perhaps it will help.

btw, question on this new HO...got about 3 hours on it now...and just checked the oil and it appears to be overfilled...I can see the oil in the tank thru the filler neck. This is how I got it from the dealer...is this a problem? an overfilled oil tank?

Thanks!

First of all I'm asuming you're checking the oil the right way, according to the manual. I'm not sure what overfilled oil will do on a dry sump system. The oil is in the tank and not the engine. But in a car, where the oil is all in the crankcase, it could screw up the engine. Blown seals or something. I'm not that much into mechanical stuff so I can't give you any details, but I can tell you it's not right. I would talk to the dealer right away.
