#1
I was woundering if you could take a 400 engine and swap it out with like a 500 or 600. My engine on my 400 locked up and needs replacing. I didnt know if this was possible.Let me know your ideas. Or if you know where i can find a new engine.

i have a polaris sportsman 500 engine in my atv it came with a 500 H.O and the prev owner had ploblems kpping teh front end down in trails with major hills and rocks and he has a sportsman 500 that was to sluggish for him so he swapped and i have a sportsman engine andcarb. its the 34 carb the scrambler has a 40 or something idk i think the engines are suppost to be the same on both atvs that are 500 but the H.O. put out alot more power. i hope everything works out for you it would be cool if you could fit a twin in that.

As far as I can tell, the four-stroke 425 that they call a 400 is built on a 500 block with a little bit smaller bore and stroke. I've seen them parked side by side and looked real close and didn't see any difference.

If its a 400 4 stroke the 500 4 stroke will bolt right in , they are based on the same motor the 500 has a longer stroke and bigger bore, if its a HO motor you will need the 40 mm carb and boots instead of the 34mm one.
