Default fan quits under water and hot light appears

Hello All need some help. I just installed a new fan from the fan man and used the straight blades that came with the fan. When I was riding last night about 20 min in to the ride we came up on a creek to cross, my fan was running and when the radiator went under water the fan cut off and the temp light came on. After I got out of the creek fan came back on and light went off. Later I was flying down an open dirt road and my hot light came on but no fan. Turned the fan to see if it was stuck because we all know this happens from time to time and it was free as free can get. I shut off the bike and started it back up and all was fine for the rest of the ride. I just remembered that the water thing happened twice. Any adivce would be appreciated.

The water from the creek might have cooled it off enough to shut the fan off, otherwise I would say its not a waterproof fan motor and after you got it wet it took awhile to dry out and start working again, contact the fan guy and see if its water proof.

It is normal thought for your hot light to come on if your fan wants to turn on while in water. It is not really hot. But the problem about the hot light coming on and no fan is not normal.
