I have 22" bearclaws on the back of my 500 Scrambler 4x4 and I can get 22" for the front too for a really good price it is supposed to be 23" though but I was wondering will the smaller tire in front really screw things up or is it a myth will my 4WD engage sooner or later I or will the back be pushing the front end because of the ratio I really cannot see it hurting anything if I was to add more air in the front tires

Does anyone have any thoughts THANX

P.S this is to (BERT) are your tires the same size on your 500 Scrambler they look it if SO does it affect anything

Mostly what maters is the overall cercumfrence(spelling)of the tire. Take a tape measure and measure all the way around the tire. The difference in this dimension is what effects the engagement.

When I put the Bearclaws on the front of my Scram this dimesion was slightly bigger, about 1 1/2 inches and the tire was actually 1/2 inch taller. With that said my front tire engagement is quicker than before. Instead of the rear tire rotating 1/5 to 1/4 turn before the front engages it`s almost instant maybe 1/8 of a turn. So if your 22 inch tire is a little smaller than stock I would guess your`s would engage later say closer to 1/2 a turn of the rear tire.

Some manufacturers give an exact heigth or close to it as part of their specs. If you can get this multiply it times 3.14 and see how close it is to the measurement of the stock tire.

If mine were any bigger I don`t think I could have used them but with smaller your just delaying the engagement which I don`t think will hurt anything. If it`s too small maybe a 1 tooth change on the rear sprocket will get you back to normal.HTH

My scrambled does have the same size tires front & rear. the fourwheel drive only locks when there is no traction ie. in mud or sand. if you could get the fourwheeldrive to lock on pavement and rode for a while it would hurt something. I dont know how to do that so i would say you are safe, go for it.
