I've got a 95 300 4x4 that I'm trying to revive. The oil injection hasn't worked since my dad bought it several years ago. We assumed that the pump was the problem but I removed it while replacing the rubber mounts to find that the pump seems to be fine. The problem seems to be that the PO left out the O ring on the spacer which caused the drive gear suddenly become toothless??? I may be way off but the bottom of the spacer looks like it was ground down on the edges by the worm gear on the crank. The bad news is that I had already spent 50 bucks on a new pump (got a good deal though ;-) So, it will get replaced along with the 75 dollar gear. The point of this long post is that I don't know the procedure for shimming the new pump. Can anyone help me out? There is only one shim in there at the moment but I'm not sure if the shim thickness is determined by the case, spacer, gear, pump, or a combination of these parts. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
