Factory Wheel Bearnings?
#1
Well I have almost 1900 miles on my 2006 Sp 450 now and never did check my wheel bearnings yet!
I know it all depends on your riding style and conditions....
But for the most part,What mileage do you have on your Quads now and do you still have the Factory Wheel Bearnings in there?
If you did replace how long did they last for you?
Does Polaris use sealed Bearnings in the wheels?
...Thanks............Caper...........

it does depend on what the conditions you are riding in for sure as well if you have oversized tires on how fast they where out form lack of grease. if i remember one side has a sealed side to the bearing.

I have a 05 Sportsman 500ho and my wife a 400 and I just replaced the rear wheel bearings in the wifes. I replaced the rears in mine last year, for I have bigger tires. Mine are already alittle shaky. I wonder why the fronts are lasting so much longer? I just had both of them on the lift and the fronts checked out okay.

Fronts usually get more side weight due to the steering and turning load on the wheels......
But the rear will carry most of the rider/quad load.......IMO..........Caper..........

I like to keep extra parts around so I went to get a front wheel bearing and found out that for just one cost 50 bucks plus tax. I can get the rears for 21 bucks. I wonder if that is also why they last longer. FYI Rear Bearing part # 510013 or FW143. Front Bearing part # 510014 or FW14. I had a little trouble finding the front bearing part number so I did some more digging and found out that you can order them by telling them it is for a 1988 Daihatsui Charade.

I took the number from the old front bearings and did a search on ebay. I got 10 sealed bearings for $10 including shipping. That was enough to do my '96 Magnum and my wife's Trailblazer with 2 to spare. You can also take the number to a bearing supply store and they can usually cross the number and get them a lot cheaper than the dealer.

A little bit of info we have found on the Polaris OEM replacement bearings - At least for the past year, right out of the package they have CHINA stamped on them - you are better off going to a bearing supply and getting a real bearing for less than OEM cost, OR just buying a Chinese bearing at a low price from somewhere like Ebay. It's pretty sad that they have gone to a lower cost bearing, but still charge the same price as before they changed...........
