My quad was stolen. AGAIN!!!
#51
I still can't find my title. The insurance company and the police both want to see it. I tried to get a duplicate title but the Secretary Of State's office said they need the title number first before they can do a title search. If I had a title to read the number off I wouldn't need a new one. Then they said an ATV with that VIN has never had a title on it, but I've had it for two years. If I had my original sales receipt I could apply for a new title, but I can't find that either. If I can get a copy of the receipt, then I can apply for it, but first I have to tell the police to quit reporting it stolen so the SOS office can do their paperwork. Then after I get a title I can report it stolen again.
I only have reciepts for $260 of my $1,500 worth of accessories. I can't find Jack S@#$ for paperwork around here, but I had all of it when this thing was stolen less than a year ago. I think that when I gave all the papers to the insurance company they kept it instead of giving it back. The only thing I do have is my proof of No-Fault, and that doesn't prove that it was my ATV either. It only proves that I paid for the insurance. I'm going to try to get a receipt from the dealer but it's a 5 hour round trip so I need to call them. The guy I bought it from sold the dealership and I think it's still there. They weren't very organized the last time I way there and wouldn't be surprised if they can't find the receipt either. I'm so screwed in every way I don't know what to do.

I know here, the dealership should have sent the paperwork in for the title, then the state would mail it to us. You might want to have the VIN handy when you call the dealership. Sounds like they might need all the help they can get.

I keep my proof of no-fault in my wallet. When I go on vacation this week-end I'll only be an hour away from that dealership. I think I'll just wait a few more days instead of trying to do anything over the phone.

Good luck with that Frank. Hate to think your gonna get screwed again for a paper error. Bad enough situation as it is. Hopefully your insurance doesn't get all pissy and raise yor premiums or worse just drop you as a client being 4th time. Even though its not your fault sometimes they just say, this is a bad risk.

Hey Frank, I'm not sure how they do it in your state. In our area they keep the title until the quad is paid off. If you already paid for it someone must have a copy of it somewhere. Even though I live in Mass. I got the title from Vermont because it was the first state where I registered the quad. Hoping this helps the search somehow.
