2007 polaris sportsman 500 not shifting in high gear

I have a 2007 polaris sportsman 500 and i am having problems in high gear. It will start accelerating and then it seems as if its going into neutral and revs up real high. Does anyone know the cause of this problem?

The shifter linkage might need adjusting.

do you know how to adjust that? When I leave off the gas for a second and hit it again it goes back to accelerating normal.

works fine in Low and reverse?

Yeah it works fine in low and reverse, just high gear is giving me problems.
