In Alaska, moose kill more people than grizzly bears do. They're deadly even when you don't run into them.

a Male moose is chasing a Female?

thats called the "rut" season. its most likey around sept. and you are right as the male looses all senses and will take on anything(including trucks) trying to get w/ a mate. i see them everyday. saw a big ole bull yesterday which stood head high 2' feet over my truck hood. be smart and dont even get near them a sif they turn to chase ya in a short distance they can run fast.

I had to drive past where it went into the bush. I didn't want to but it was the only way home. IT was quite the rush. I don't think I'll be heading out that way in the fall. The last thing I need is a big horny moose chasing me.

Yep, watch out for the males in the fall. Watch out for the females in the spring if they have calves. I've seen plenty in Maine, a handful in NH, a couple in VT. They're spreading in the Northeast. Glad you didn't get hurt Randy.

I just remembered. I saw an old Ford F350 with a huge diamondplate bumper. On the back it said: "Hit a moose, I could use the meat". Hamburger Helper and roadkill. What more could you ask for?

I had a friend who hit a moose way up on Route 95 in Maine. Fortunately it was a high enough vehicle that he didn't take the legs out and have a moose in his lap. SUV was totaled. He was in the hospital for awhile.
