Default Off topic help

I know this is the polaris forum but all you guys on here are the most helpful. My friends arctic cat 250 shut off in a creek this past weekend and the water was up over the exhaust. I got him pulled out and it started right up but will only idle. When you go to give it gas it stalls out. We tried letting it run for awhile to dry any water up but still doens't work. Any ideas?

May have got water or vapour or steam and soaked down the air filter. If it got wet, it could idle but not have sufficient air flow above idle.

We checked the air filter and everything appeared normal. If it did get wet it would be fine once the filter dried out right?

Should be, but if its paper, it can shrink. Did he try it without the A/F?

no didn't check for water in the oil. on his AC it doesn't have a dipstick. it just has a little clear window to see the oil level, so it wasn't something simple to check. could water in the oil affect the way it is running?

Does the muffler have a plug or drain on it?
If there is not enough flow for the exhust when you give it gas it may due what your saying....
A large amount of water may be sitting in the chamber ........In return not letting enough flow to pass buy..
Just another thought....
